| SC Athletic Operating Structure |
Football Club Athletic, doing business as SoCal Athletic is the 501c3 registered with CYSA South, and also with the Southern California Developmental Soccer League. SoCal Athletic has a Director of Coaching for boys and a Director of Coaching for girls, a Boys Academy Director, and a Girls Academy Director. These positions are appointed by the Director of Coaching and approved by the Board of Dirctors. Each team has a team coach, appointed by respective Directors and augmented by specialty coaches for specific activities such as Goalie Coach. There is also a Player Development position who oversees all skill training. SC Athletic believes that the operations of a soccer club, decisions concerning team build up, and club structure, should be made by our soccer professionals, not administrators, and we have two Operations Committees - one each for boys and girls. Financial operations such as payroll, collections, field permits, tournament applications, and referee fees are handled by the Club's administrative staff. Each team has an Administrator who takes care of the off-field, day-to-day running of the team, and who handles player cards and registration with our Registrar. The club has its own Registrar who issues player, Coach and Administrator cards. All these functions are vital to the smooth running of our teams and the Registrar is a position valued very highly by the Directors. The Coach, however, has the overall responsibility of the team, its players, and parents. |

Youth football is moving at a rapid pace in Southern California and we have to stop and ask ourselves “are we going to get caught up in this competitive frenzy?” Player development is taking second place to wins and losses, and League status is becoming a major decision point for parents. We have taken the step to focus on player development, and in that vein, will compete in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League. We will also place importance on our State Cup performances, as this will give us the necessary results to showcase our older players in the college-scouted tournaments.
